Tasks Summary
- Mano A Mano is a Peruvian non-governmental organization committed to improving living conditions in vulnerable communities through environmental, social and urban development initiatives. Many people have been part of the association since its inception. Today, we must look to the future and strengthen our governance to ensure the sustainability of the organisation. The volunteer will support Mano a Mano in:
- Structuring of the Mano a Mano administrative committee.
- Synthesise and organise the association's governance documents.
- Consolidate a folder with internal management documents.
- Read and summarise key information from these documents.
- Raise awareness of the rights to education, work and human rights.
- Participate in the preparation of Useful Holidays, especially in raising awareness of the right to education for 150 children.
- Optionally, support retaining wall construction activities and other initiatives of the association (sales, fairs, etc.). Accommodation, food and transport arrangements The volunteer is offered a room in Volunteer House which is in the same building as the office. Each one have their seperate room, which could be shared depending on availability. Lunch is provided on office days, and a menu is also available in the field. Public transport is used to travel to the site. The NGO location is around 1,5h away from the centre of Lima and volunteers can visit the capital on the weekends, but they are mostly living in the community and have to follow the local environement rules. They will be accompagnied and guided, working closely to local team and community. Training during the activity Volunteers will receive initial training on arrival, accompanied by a welcome and orientation to the project. A weekly follow-up will be carried out to support them in their work. In addition, they will be trained in the management of green areas in urban environments, guided by an employee of the association with more than 20 years of experience. They will also work in collaboration with civil engineers and architects in the planning and creation of new parks. At the end of their mission, a closing evaluation will be carried out. Participant profile Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months. We are looking for a volunteer committed to human rights advocacy and capacity building, with skills in document formalisation, governance and awareness raising. Experience or training in law, governance, administration or related areas: Knowledge of human rights, right to education and labour law. Skills in drafting and synthesis of legal and administrative documents. Ability to analyse and organise information. Experience in volunteering: having participated in solidarity projects, either in NGOs, community programmes or social initiatives would be a plus. Adaptation to intercultural environments. Experience in community life and teamwork: having been part of groups such as the scout movement, summer camps, collaborative projects, teamwork with coexistence dynamics would be a plus. Interest in community awareness and training.
