Tasks Summary
- Natuurhulpcentrum is a wildlife rescue center that helps more than 10.000 birds and animals yearly. 80% of the animals are wild native ones. They are brought to the center or caught by an animal rescue team, because they are wounded, ill or too young to take care of themselves. Cured animals are then released back into nature. 20% of the animals are exotic ones. They are brought to the center because of confiscation, being abandoned, closure of zooโs, โฆ). They temporarily stay at Natuurhulpcentrum until a new home is found. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements Volunteers will stay in a shared accommodation on the premises of the project. The building consists of 3 rooms (each furnished with 2 or 3 beds and a wardrobe), a shared kitchen, shared sanitary facilities, shared desks and shared laundry machine. A caution (amount to be determined) will be asked for the entry badge to the premises. Training during the activity The volunteer will learn how to take care of wounded animals, how to calm them down, etc..
- The volunteer will develop communication skills and skills about working in a group
- The volunteer will learn about local nature and local culture
- Opportunity to meet a variety of people (co-workers, visitors, ...).
- Experience in a multicultural environment
- On-Arrival Training and Mid-Term Training organised by the National Agency JINT Participant profile Volunteers should be willing to be involved in the daily operations of the centre, having a real motivation in all kinds of task, to like animals and wanting to work with animals in a realistic way (assistance to medical care of fractures and wounds, feeding the animals, cleaning cages and fences, upkeep of the accomodations, releasing the animals and assisting on interventions, ...)
- Demonstrate a love for animals and care about their wellbeing
- Willing to take part in the daily activities of the center
- Be motivated to carry out all kind of tasks
- Good knowledge of English
- Strong motivation to learn Dutch
- Social, enthusiastic and friendly
- Ability to work independently and in team
