NGO MONDO UGANDA PIONEERS ASSOCIATION Volunteer opportunity: ICT Specialist

Tasks Summary

The Uganda Pioneers’ Association (UPA) is a youth-led NGO dedicated to community development, intercultural cooperation, and youth empowerment across Uganda. As a volunteer, you will support UPA by facilitating knowledge sharing and capacity building among staff through trainings on digital skills, communication, and social media marketing strategies. You will also assist in managing and upgrading UPA’s digital platforms to enhance online engagement. In addition, the role includes providing ICT training for UPA staff and local partner organizations, such as schools and community-based groups, helping teams strengthen their digital communication and marketing skills. These efforts empower UPA and its partners to effectively leverage technology for outreach, education, and community development. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements Volunteers will stay at Villa Mamu, Mengo, Kampala, a spacious residence with WiFi, a warm shower, a kitchen, and pets. For a deeper cultural experience, some days will be spent with a host family near Kikooba School. Other accommodation options in Kampala can be arranged based on safety and convenience. Local transport mainly consists of boda-bodas (motorcycle taxis). Traveling to Kampala city takes about two hours by public transport at approximately 10,000 UGX one way. This setup offers a comfortable and exciting experience, blending urban amenities with meaningful community engagement. Training during the activity As part of the BRIDGE Project (Building Resilience, Innovation, Development, and Gender Equality), volunteers will work toward empowering vulnerable communities, especially women. Training includes skills development workshops, digital literacy enhancement, participation in UN Women Summits, and facilitating digital training sessions. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and social impact-driven project execution while refining leadership and communication skills. Visit: https://mondo.org.ee/en/volunteers/ Participant profile The volunteer should have a strong interest in digital technology, communication, and marketing, with a particular passion for social media and teaching. They should demonstrate creativity and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a team environment with enthusiasm and commitment. A keen ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds is essential, ensuring effective communication and engagement across different communities. This role requires an adaptable and proactive mindset, making it ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic, people-centered environments while leveraging digital tools to drive meaningful impact. Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
