Europahaus - Deutsch-Niederländische Heimvolkshochschule e. V. Aurich, Germany Volunteer opportunity: Be the change you want to see – Youth for Europe – Europe for youth
We are an adult and youth education centre located in the far north of Germany. At Europahaus Aurich we offer seminars, workshops, and 2–3 international youth meetings per year for people aged 14 to 99. Our focus areas are environmental topics and political education. Starting 1 April 2026 and 1 July 2026, we are offering two full-time volunteering positions for a period of up to 12 months. As a volunteer, you will support and participate in a variety of seminars and activities—especially those aimed at young participants. Your main tasks will include assisting in the planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of national and international youth seminars on topics such as Europe, participation, xenophobia, and ecology. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements You will live in an 80 sqm shared flat in central Aurich with a total of two other volunteers (usually, two international and one German), each with a private room plus shared kitchen, living room and bathroom. The flat is a few minutes' walk from Europahaus. Aurich has no train station, but a central bus station. Many people here use bikes; a bike is not provided for private use, but will be rented for seminar activities if necessary. Meals are offered on weekdays; on weekends you are asked to cook for yourself and will receive a food allowance. Pocket money follows ESC-standards. Training during the activity Your exact responsibilities will depend on your interests and skills. Possible training areas and tasks include: - general office work and research, - supporting the organisation of (international) seminars before, during, and after the events, - planning and running workshops or activities for young people, - sharing information about Europe and the ESC programme (e.g., in local schools), - assisting the Europahaus team (education, administration, facility management), - developing and implementing your own chosen project. A free German language course is included. Participant profile These placements are aimed at volunteers from EU Programme Countries who would like to commit to a long-term volunteering experience (11–12 months). Requirements: - good English skills and/or basic German (language course provided) Useful but not mandatory: - international experience - enjoyment of working with people - basic computer skills - interest in cycling (some seminars include physical activities) - an open, curious personality If you would like to apply, please upload or send us your current CV and check whether our programme matches your expectations.
