Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day management and implementation of UNESCO Culture Conventions and recommendations
- Support governance mechanisms and periodic reporting
- Assess nominations to Convention lists
- Coordinate reporting on site conditions and emergency actions
- Organize capacity-building seminars and workshops
- Develop teaching materials for heritage preservation awareness
- Promote diversity of cultural expressions and the creative economy
- Foster international cooperation and assist governments in policy design
- Coordinate statutory obligations and support governing bodies
- Provide communication services, coordinate publications and webpages
- Coordinate the UNESCO Creative Cities Network
- Support planning and logistical organization of meetings and events
- Act as Secretariat for specific Conventions and manage the museums programme
- Provide technical assistance to Member States in cultural policy design and implementation
- Advocate for the role of culture in public policy and the 2030 Agenda
- Integrate culture in international agendas for sustainable development, peace, and security
- Provide strategic advice and quality control.
