Overview

Provides paralegal assistance for legal matters concerning non-US JFCNF military and civilian staff and their dependents in the USA. Supports the Office of the Legal Advisor with research, document preparation, and administrative duties.


Tasks Summary
  • Provide paralegal assistance on visa and residence matters, employment, education, property taxes, state and federal court matters, and driving and insurance.
  • Maintain a contact database of US Attorneys.
  • Research, analyze, and study law sources for legal briefs.
  • Proofread legal documents.
  • Maintain retrieval and information storage services, including legal search facilities and library.
  • Act as Information Management Staff Officer and Lessons Learned point of contact if required.
  • Maintain legal records.
  • Serve as Training Officer for courses, seminars, and conferences if required.
  • Act as data protection processor.
  • Keep abreast of law developments and office management tools.
  • Perform work activities in structured environments.
  • Plan and schedule own work.
  • Provide general office and administrative support to the Chief LEGAD and office members.

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum two years’ experience of providing office support and performing administrative duties.
  • OR Two-four years’ experience as a Legal Assistant in a legal assistance environment involving direct problem-solving interaction with clients.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Practical experience using modern office equipment.
  • Eligibility for certification as a Notary Public for Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Familiarity with conducting research within NATO community (desirable).
  • Previous experience working at a large international organization, preferably in a joint or NATO environment (desirable).
  • Former military administrative or legal training/experience and knowledge of military command structures and organization (desirable).
  • Previous experience as a Notary (desirable).
  • Experience conducting computer-based legal research (desirable).
  • Experience in record management, archiving procedures and electronic database management (desirable).

Qualification Requirements

• Higher Secondary education and intermediate vocational training in library, information science, management information systems, computer science or related discipline.

Remuneration: • 5,924.94 US Dollar (USD) Monthly
