Overview

The Faculty Advisor develops and maintains expertise in security issues relevant to NATO, with a focus on partnerships. The role involves designing, preparing, and executing study periods and short courses.

Tasks Summary

• Develop and prepare course materials including syllabi and instructional guides
• Develop and deliver lectures and briefings
• Act as a moderator during post-lecture discussion periods
• Coordinate and host guest lectures
• Instruct and brief other faculty members
• Accompany courses on Field Studies
• Provide academic guidance and mentorship
• Manage the Partnership Real-Time Information, Management and Exchange System (e-PRIME)

Experience Requirements

• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in international security, defence and foreign affairs
• Strong knowledge of Middle Eastern and North African societies, their socio-political dynamics, and Islamic religious traditions and diversity
• Extensive analytical skills
• Demonstrated expertise with developing, planning and implementing short courses or academic activities
• Standard Automated Data Processing (ADP) - good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Application Suite and Internet use
• Experience in Universities / Think Tanks or in Policy Planning (desirable)
• Previous professional experience related to Middle East, Mediterranean and Gulf Security (desirable)

Qualification Requirements

• PhD in International Relations / Political Science, or other relevant

Contract Duration: Two-year definite duration contract, potentially followed by a further three-year contract. Employment of research positions shall not be beyond five years duration.

Remuneration: • 8,412.64 Euro (EUR) Monthly
