Overview
Support the Refugee Environmental Protection (REP) Fund by enhancing governance, coordination, and operational effectiveness in Uganda and Rwanda. Foster collaboration with key stakeholders and ensure alignment with national priorities.
Tasks Summary
- Support operationalization of REP Fund governance model
- Provide secretariat and coordination support to country-level Steering Committee
- Facilitate communication between UNHCR HQ, country offices, and project consortia
- Serve as REP Fund focal point with national and local authorities
- Track alignment of REP Fund pilots with national policies
- Support establishment and documentation of Benefit Sharing Agreements
- Ensure government representatives are engaged in oversight platforms and community consultations
- Provide operational follow-up for pilot activities
- Support monitoring of timelines, deliverables, and budget execution
- Review financial progress reports
- Document community consultations
- Contribute to implementation of REP Fund M&E framework
- Liaise with consortia to ensure data quality
- Prepare quarterly progress notes
- Document lessons learned
- Develop local communication strategies
- Ensure integration of local insights into global REP Fund learning
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in project governance, project management, environmental/climate programmes, or refugee-hosting contexts
- Proven experience working with national and local government authorities in Uganda and/or Rwanda
- Familiarity with carbon markets, reforestation, or clean cooking
Qualification Requirements
Advanced degree in environmental policy, natural resource management, development studies, or related field
