Overview
Provides authoritative leadership, policy direction, and technical guidance for the effective management of UNRWA’s Health Programme. Contributes to improving the health status of Palestine refugees.
Tasks Summary
- Directs the Health Programme, ensuring management based on available funds and results-based budgeting.
- Plans and directs departmental, technical, and administrative policies and programmes.
- Assesses policy issues to establish strategic plans and programme activities.
- Plans, directs, and controls strategic and technical operations, priorities, and activities.
- Develops future technical cooperative activities and negotiates agreements with donors.
- Develops and leads Emergency Preparedness and Response Programme.
- Leads the integration of mental health and psychosocial support services.
- Oversees digital health transformation, including electronic health records and telemedicine.
- Ensures availability, quality, and management of essential medicines and supplies.
- Develops strategies for health systems strengthening and workforce development.
- Advises the Commissioner-General and reports on the UNRWA Health Programme.
- Represents the Commissioner-General at the WHO Assembly and Regional Committees.
- Monitors, evaluates, and reports on the health situation of Palestine refugees.
- Liaises with Palestinian Health Authorities on policy issues.
Experience Requirements
Experience in directing health programmes, strategic planning, resource mobilization, and leading emergency preparedness and response.
