Overview

The Endpoint Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining, monitoring, and supporting global IT systems and infrastructure. This role involves leading projects, providing technical guidance, and ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise computing platforms.


Tasks Summary
  • Maintain, monitor, and support global IT systems and infrastructure
  • Lead multiple projects and provide technical guidance
  • Design, build, and optimize systems operating environment (servers, storage, backup)
  • Manage access controls, security applications, and system backups
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and basic network issues
  • Analyze system failures, respond to incidents, and execute contingency plans
  • Support 24/7 operations, lead disaster recovery efforts, and manage off-site storage
  • Work with system users, technical teams, and vendors, providing support and training
  • Consult on short- and long-term project planning efforts, developing cost/time estimates
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks for infrastructure systems (backups, patch management)
  • Monitor system health and provide recommendations
  • Coordinate and validate activities, manage user access to systems, servers, and files
  • Administer the setup of new profiles, create/update access permissions, and maintain user accounts
  • Install, configure, and maintain system hardware and software components
  • Maintain tracking and configuration documentation
  • Supervise system upgrade installations
  • Determine if inactive accounts should be deleted
  • Administer Storage Area Network (SAN)
  • Supervise monitoring procedures and evaluate problems
  • Ensure capacity workload modeling and availability analysis is performed
  • Monitor system-operating capacity (disk space, tape storage, memory, CPU)
  • Review performance and control reports
  • Recommend operating system settings changes to improve performance and reliability
  • Develop, maintain, recommend, and support tools for capacity planning management
  • Lead or provide technical direction for testing efforts
  • Ensure tests evaluate all possible impacts on current infrastructure or application
  • Recommend performance metrics
  • Analyze and report on operational metrics for process improvements
  • Translate business and technical requirements to develop automation specifications
  • Update job schedules based on priorities and special handling requests
  • Ensure reliability and availability of platforms
  • Schedule maintenance and repairs
  • Coordinate production job processing
  • Ensure maintenance procedures are executed
  • Operate computer hardware systems and related peripheral equipment
  • Monitor systems on a 24x7 schedule
  • Perform maintenance procedures
  • Validate input and output data for completeness and accuracy
  • Analyze job processes and recommend improvements
  • Review historical data for trend analysis
  • Coordinate problem resolution among team members
  • Document, monitor, report, and manage the resolution of systemic issues
  • Work with Systems Engineers and Architects when issues appear systemic or cannot be resolved
  • Recommend procedures and controls for problem resolution or create temporary solutions

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise-level servers and IT infrastructure
  • At least 5+ years of experience designing, configuring, deploying, and optimizing server hardware and operating environments
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in information technology, with a focus on endpoint systems and enterprise computing platforms

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field
