Overview
Provide strategic direction, leadership, and technical support for WASH programming in Gaza, ensuring high-quality design and implementation through direct and partner efforts.
Tasks Summary
- Oversee technical aspects of WASH program implementation and coordination in Gaza.
- Provide direct technical support to the WASH team, ensuring adherence to best practices and IRC policy.
- Ensure IRC WASH programs meet international and national standards, including Sphere.
- Ensure program activities are accountable to beneficiaries, gender-sensitive, protection-sensitive, and inclusive.
- Coordinate internally and externally with agencies, logistics, and WASH Cluster members.
- Monitor progress of WASH activities to ensure program quality.
- Adapt program responses and strategy as required.
- Conduct WASH and IPC assessments and analysis in target health facilities and mobile medical units.
- Ensure integration across sectors and coordinate with MEAL.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Finance, and HR for timely project implementation.
- Participate in assessments and provide recommendations for water and sanitation options.
- Directly manage the WASH Manager and provide technical support to the WASH team.
- Build the capacity of the WASH team in project management, humanitarian response, technical capacity, and compliance.
- Assess staffing requirements and recruit staff as needed.
- Support business development for technically sound and financially feasible projects.
- Ensure sound financial management and compliance.
- Lead internal and donor reporting.
- Represent IRC in external WASH forums and technical working groups.
Experience Requirements
- Experience in implementing and coordinating Environmental Health/WASH programs.
- Experience providing direct technical support to WASH teams.
- Experience ensuring adherence to international and national standards, including Sphere.
- Experience in coordinating internally and externally with various stakeholders.
- Experience in monitoring program progress and adapting strategies.
- Experience conducting WASH and IPC assessments and analysis.
- Experience in integrating programs across sectors.
- Experience coordinating with Supply Chain, Finance, and HR departments.
- Experience participating in assessments and providing recommendations.
- Experience in direct line management of staff.
- Experience in capacity building of teams.
- Experience in assessing staffing requirements and recruitment.
