Overview

The Programme Assistant (Field) is stationed in field locations where WFP programs are implemented, reporting to the Program Associate (Field Coordination). The role supports the implementation and coordination of WFP projects in the field.


Tasks Summary
  • Maintain collaboration with government counterparts and participate in coordination meetings.
  • Provide monitoring, implementation, and coordination support for WFP projects.
  • Verify field-level movements and distribution of items, resolving routine issues.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze field-level programme data and prepare reports.
  • Liaise with cooperating partners, government, internal counterparts, and community leaders.
  • Suggest improvements to field-level monitoring processes and operational procedures.
  • Arrange and participate in field-level meetings with partners.
  • Allocate tasks to field staff, providing guidance and training.
  • Provide trainings for cooperating partners on WFP operational practices.
  • Record field-level data accurately and timely.
  • Act as a point of contact for field-level operational queries.
  • Support communication and coordination with local partners and agencies.
  • Prepare detailed field mission reports.
  • Follow emergency preparedness and response procedures.
  • Facilitate timely sharing of financial data and completion of financial reconciliation.

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum Five (05) years of relevant experience is needed.
  • Has facilitated communication with technical teams.
  • Has contributed to implementation of programmes.
  • Has observed or assisted with policy discussions.
  • Has engaged in field coordination

Qualification Requirements
  • Completion of secondary school education (Advance Level), and a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area is required.
  • A first university degree (bachelor’s degree) in a related area is desirable.

Languages Required: Fluent in English, and Sinhala/ Tamil

Contract Duration: 1 Year
