Overview
The internship is located in the Europe and Central Asia Division in the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations (DPPA-DPO) at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The intern will work as a member of the Western Europe and Eastern Mediterranean team contributing to its daily work.
Tasks Summary
- Monitoring media reports and political and security developments in the region;
- Conducting background research and analysis of relevant issues and trends in the region;
- Following and reporting on relevant meetings of the UN Security Council and General Assembly;
- Attending other meetings and events and preparing summary notes;
- Providing logistical and other assistance in organizing meetings and events;
- Preparing briefing material for senior officials;
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
Qualification Requirements
- be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
