Overview
The Farmer Field School-Farmer Business School Specialist will contribute to the "Revival of Balochistan Water Resources Program (RBWRP)" by establishing and supporting farmer schools to enhance agricultural practices and livelihoods.
Tasks Summary
- Supervise the establishment and functioning of FFS, FBS, FCS and GWMS.
- Develop and deliver training modules on modern farming techniques, business management, value addition, and market linkages.
- Coordinate with NGOs, academia, and TWG for beneficiary identification, awareness, and training delivery.
- Promote gender-sensitive approaches and inclusivity.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to monitor impact.
- Collaborate with local authorities and partners for successful implementation.
- Provide timely and accurate reports on training progress.
- Develop and adopt training materials and curricula for FFS and FBS programs.
- Train and mentor farmers, extension workers, and FFS Trainers.
- Provide technical assistance and advisory support.
- Facilitate exchange visits and study tours.
- Organize workshops, field demonstrations, and events.
- Collect data, conduct surveys, and prepare progress reports.
- Assess program impact on farmers' livelihoods.
- Manage field interventions for FFS and CSA sites.
- Manage local level ToT for FFS Trainers and extension officers.
- Introduce and establish Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) initiatives.
- Provide backstopping to FFS Facilitators, FFS Trainers, and Team leaders.
- Document and develop databases, case studies, and success stories.
- Support data entry and updates in Kobo database.
- Work with River Basin Team Leaders and sectoral specialists for information compilation.
- Facilitate field level activities for mobilization and formation of FFS/CRA.
- Support facilitators and RBTLs in maintaining relations with TWG.
- Assist RBTLs and technical specialists in monitoring schools and sessions.
- Monitor and evaluate facilitator performance.
- Provide feedback and coaching to facilitators and FFS Trainers.
- Perform any other assigned task.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in implementing Farmer Field Schools, Farmer Business Schools, or Farmer Climate Schools in similar contexts.
- Practical knowledge of farmers’ capacity building & community mobilization and development skills.
- Participatory approaches for rural community development.
- Understanding of the purpose and functions of technical programmes, operational guidelines and programme/project management procedures, preferably those adopted by the United Nations or FAO would be considered an added asset.
- Good knowledge of common administrative and financial rules and regulations.
- Good knowledge of communication and documentation standards.
- Proven expertise in modern agricultural practices, entrepreneurship, value addition, water management, rangeland and livestock management.
- Experience in developing training materials, curricula, and conducting training programs for farmers and extension workers.
- Familiarity with the agriculture and livestock challenges in Balochistan will be an added advantage.
Qualification Requirements
• Advance university degree in agriculture, rural development, agricultural economics, livestock management, or a related field.
