Overview

The IT Associate provides reliable and timely IT services on the application and infrastructure of UNHCR standard IT services. The role involves regular interaction with the Regional Bureau and Headquarters.

Tasks Summary

• Assist in on-site needs assessment and installation and maintenance of UNHCR Telecommunications and IT equipment.
• Establish IT requirements in field operations.
• Install and configure UNHCR IT and Telecommunications systems.
• Ensure equipment is in good working condition and arrange repairs or replacement.
• Maintain records of installations and repairs/replacements.
• Provide information for asset management records.
• Keep inventory of spares and return spare parts for repair/replacement.
• Monitor and maintain LAN, Network Servers, Printers, LAN points, Hubs, Patch pane.
• Add or remove users from the Network.
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of users and usage of the Network.
• Carry out minor hardware maintenance.
• Provide Technical Briefing/Training on equipment to local IT resources and users.
• Assist in the development and configuration of IT and Telecom Equipment/Kits.
• Decide on appropriate resolution to incidents/problems.
• Escalate issues to supervisor if incident/problem cannot be resolved.
• Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Experience Requirements

• At least six years of relevant IT experience, including providing technical support to colleagues, configuring IT equipment, maintaining LAN networks, and assisting with electrical devices and appliances.
• Proven experience in IT support roles within the UN system, embassies, or other international organizations.
• Previous exposure to asset management, ERP platforms, vehicle tracking systems (monitoring and installation), and general cybersecurity practices will be considered a significant advantage.
• Experience relevant to the function or particularly on HF/VHF radio or IT systems, PAMA satellite systems, PABX, Cisco routers and satellite modems.
• Hands-on experience with wireless and VoIP systems, electricity, generators, lightning protection an asset.
• Previous experience in Emergencies is an advantage.
