Overview

The Area Manager is responsible for coordinating, managing, developing, and representing DRC programming in Tripolitania, ensuring operations align with DRC strategies and regulations.

Tasks Summary
  • Participate in senior management team meetings.
  • Represent DRC programs and operations in the area of responsibility.
  • Act as the primary DRC representative in Tripolitania.
  • Foster relationships with government authorities and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the Country Director and Head of Program on advocacy efforts.
  • Maintain working relationships with donors, organizations, and local counterparts.
  • Line manage area support and program staff.
  • Enable an effective team through result-oriented management.
  • Coordinate with SMT and sector coordinators.
  • Encourage a positive team spirit.
  • Adapt DRC national strategy to local context.
  • Provide guidance in program development and fundraising efforts.
  • Provide analysis on context and humanitarian situation.
  • Oversee project implementation.
  • Facilitate donor visits and support fundraising.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for staff, beneficiaries, and assets.
  • Manage security incidents.
  • Ensure adherence to DRC policies, procedures, and donor regulations.
  • Promote compliance with safeguarding policies.
  • Oversee logistical/procurement, HR/administration, finance, and office services.
  • Lead recruitment of senior staff.
  • Maintain oversight of proposal and concept note development.
  • Act as overall budget holder for the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure area offices comply with internal procedures and donor regulations.
  • Comply with internal reporting requirements.
  • Lead internal coordination mechanisms in the area of operation.
  • Strengthen efforts to document the impact of DRC activities.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of Seven years of experience managing humanitarian and development programs with NGOs.
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in relevant field overseeing humanitarian and development multi-sector, multi-donor programmes in complex and volatile environments.
  • At least Five years in a senior management role, demonstrating leadership and strategic oversight.
Qualification Requirements

• Postgraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., international development, social sciences, public administration, or related disciplines).

Languages Required:

Languages Preferred: • Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable.

Remuneration: Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national employees
