Key Responsibilities

“Helenów” is a complex of institutions providing education, treatment and welfare for children, youth and adults with disabilities. It specializes in treatment of children with Central Nervous System dysfunctions - it runs a kindergarten, schools and offers various forms of therapies such as hippotherapy, physiotherapy, music therapy, art therapy, etc. The main role of the volunteer is to support educators and therapists of various units located in “Helenów” Center.. Two volunteers are responsible for leading horses during the sessions of hippotherapy that the Centre has been organizing for more than 20 years. They are also in charge of supporting the therapists and cleaning the animals. Possibly shared room with one more volunteer of the same gender - Food: Volunteer receives 150 EUR/month and should be cooking on their own - Pocket money: 180 EUR per month - Language support: Polish classes on the Online Linguistic Support platform - Local transport: Volunteer receives city transport pass which allows to use all means of public transport in Warsaw - International travel: Reimbursement up to 211 EUR, 309 EUR or 395 (or a bit more in case of "green travel") Training during the activity - Orientation training (coordinating organization): introduction to the project, getting to know the cooridinators and the organization, integration with other volunteers and mentors, planning - On-arrival training (National Agency): Getting to know Poland, ESC introduction (5 days) - Mid-term training (National Agency, 5 days) - Final evaluation (coordinating organization) - Evaluation meetings/trainings (coordinating organization): intercultural education, learning, cultural adaptation, communication (once every two months) Participant profile - Friendly, making relationships with people easily - Willing to work with children and youth with disabilities - Communicative English - Physically active (able to work in stables and walk a few km everyday) -Enjoys outdoor activities and hiking; no prior experience with horses required. - Reliable and diligent
