Overview

The BIOFIN Intern will provide daily support to the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) in Shandong, China, assisting with policy and institutional reviews, expenditure reviews, financial needs assessments, and the implementation of biodiversity finance solutions.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide support with financial and administrative requirements of the project, including procurement, funding, and accounting.
  • Assist in ensuring project execution is timely and appropriate.
  • Facilitate, guide, and monitor the work of the national BIOFIN team and GBF project; manage payment schedules.
  • Assist in project-related activities, including planning for meetings, consultations, trips, and translation.
  • Ensure national and international travel is organised smoothly.
  • Assist in organizing PSC meetings, capacity building, and training.
  • Take meeting notes and draft minutes; document and share records of meetings, decisions, and actions.
  • Support Monitoring and Evaluation of projects at the national level, including workshop evaluations.
  • Draft progress reports and provide fundamental support for data collection.
  • Support scoping research into key current issues and development of reports and publications for the Shandong team.
  • Assist in the formulation of pipeline projects.
  • Manage the project budget, oversee procurement and accounting.
  • Ensure financial resources are disbursed on time to implementing partners.
  • Maintain records of expenditures and collaborate in financial reporting.
Experience Requirements
Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Good communication skills both Chinese and English, excellent communication (both oral and written) and partnership building skills with multi-dimension partners, people skill for solve conflicts and negotiation skills.

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: Interns may be given a stipend according to the UNDP Internship Policies, if is not financially supported by any institution or programme, such as a university, government, foundation or scholarship programme.
