Overview

This role provides expert advisory services in infrastructure and project management, aiming to contribute to strategic direction and drive operational efficiency on a global scale.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide sound and accurate advice and support in infrastructure and project management in line with corporate standards and policies.
  • Effectively identify and escalate complex and high-risk matters.
  • Establish effective working relationships with UNOPS regional, multi-country and local offices.
  • Review new engagements and engagement amendments, focusing on risks and opportunities.
  • Comprehend and assist with application, interpretation and adoption of corporate policy, guidance and best practices.
  • Provide technical advice and support to requests from field and other corporate practice groups.
  • Review and advise on the application and management of OneUNOPS Projects.
  • Coordinate and liaise with Regional Advisors on engagement development, advisory and capacity building needs.
  • Travel to support and advise field operations on project management and implementation practices, as required.
  • Coordinate and manage meetings between corporate practice groups and field offices.
  • Communicate development updates, engagement risks, and strategies for operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with other units on system enhancements, including AI adoption.
  • Support corporate and cross-functional initiatives and contribute to policy development.
  • Support PMI and IPMG initiatives and tasks.
  • Contribute to the dissemination and sharing of best practices in project management and infrastructure.
  • Participate in and support the development of Project Management and Infrastructure training.
Experience Requirements
  • Work in an Engineering and/or Construction management role.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ work experience in Project Management.
  • Experience in institutional capacity building and/or technical assistance is an asset.
  • Experience using software based tools is an asset.
  • Experience working in developing countries in an international environment is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC contracts is an asset.
  • Experience with the UN, especially UNOPS is an asset.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (such as BEng, BASc or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related fields with 7 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree (such as MEng, MASc or equivalent) in any of the above or related fields with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • A PRINCE2® Foundation/Practitioner certificate is an asset.

Contract Duration: Until 31 December 2026, can be extended and/or converted to ongoing subject to performance and budget availability

Work Modality: This position may either be office-based in Copenhagen, Denmark or home-based in the successful candidate's place of residence. The duty station is to be agreed upon finalization of the recruitment process in accordance with business needs and the candidate's individual circumstances.
