Overview

The internship programme is intended to expose students or recent graduates to the United Nations to enhance their educational experience and gain experience in the work of the Organization, specifically within the Intergovernmental Outreach and Support Service (IOSS) at UNCTAD.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in the preparations and organization of CSO and GLS related UNCTAD meetings, briefings, and videoconferencing.
  • Assist in preparing drafts for communication with civil society organizations, parliamentarians and other organizations and replies to inquiries.
  • Assist in preparing draft inputs to outreach material.
  • Provide support for the team's outreach efforts to civil society.
  • Assist in the updating of the CSO database and lists.
  • Attend meetings and prepare notes for the file and short reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of substantive background materials for meetings of the G77 and China Regional Group.
  • Assist in drafting reports or taking-down notes/minutes of meetings and coordinating administrative requirements.
Experience Requirements

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Should be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required for this internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of French and Spanish is an asset.

Contract Duration: 02.03.26 to 31.05.26

Work Modality: Geneva or Remote

Remuneration: The Internship Programme is unpaid and full-time. All costs of travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses must be covered by the intern.
