Tasks Summary

If you like to work with youth and local communities, organise and facilitate various activities promoting Europe and its values and support the everyday work of a youth centre - this ESC project may be for you! Join up to 20 international volunteers, as well as our local teamers, in supporting the EJBM team in preparation and implementation of various events, workshops and activities for local community about Europe and its values. We need your help to make the make Europe more accessible and engaging for young people from our region, during events such as Europe Day, European Weeks, our Democracy Festival or Saxony-Anhalt Day. Additionally, you will support the team of our youth centre with any tasks, that may arise during your stay. We count on your engagement and openness to various tasks. Your own experiences, skills, ideas, and creativity are highly valued – they are an essential contribution to shaping our educational work. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements Volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms with up to four people (towels and sheets are provided) at our youth centre. Since our facility is available to external groups all year long, the living arrangements can be subject to change. Food and accommodation are fully covered. Volunteers will be provided with 3 meals a day prepared by our kitchen staff. On free days, a budget for food will be provided. Additionally, pocket money of 7 € per day will be provided. Travel expenses will be reimbursed based on the traveling distance according to the Erasmus+ rates. Training during the activity During their stay at the EJBM volunteers will receive guidance and support from the pedagogical staff as well as our long-term volunteers, i.e. team building upon arrival or reflection elements during their stay. The EJBM team will be there to explain the tasks and responsibilities, as well as available to answer any questions that may arise. Our work and approach rely heavily on the peer-to-peer principle. During their stay, the volunteers are expected to work independently and support each other in executing the assigned tasks. The volunteers will learn from each other. Participant profile We are looking for volunteers interested in and/or experienced with non-formal education, workshop facilitation and democracy work. It is important that you align with the European values and have some understanding of the European Union and its structure. The volunteers are expected to be able to understand and communicate freely in English, as it is the working language of the project. As you will have contact with local communities, German is an asset but not necessary. But for sure you need to enjoy working with people! We value a wide range of skills and qualities and would like to see participants who identify with at least one of the following: Independence, Creativity, Dedication, Eagerness, Open-mindedness, Curiosity, Teamwork and Problem-solving. We are looking for people who show their own initiative and have a strong sense of responsibility.
