Overview

Internship opportunity within the General Assembly and ECOSOC Affairs Division (GAEAD) of the United Nations Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) in New York. The role involves providing procedural and technical support to intergovernmental meetings.

Tasks Summary
  • Assisting in the preparation of procedural notes for intergovernmental meetings, and other preparatory tasks;
  • Attending and summarizing intergovernmental meetings;
  • Assisting with logistics during meetings, including interactive presentations, virtual connections and assisting with the list of speakers;
  • Undertaking historical research and examination of procedural precedents;
  • Undertaking media-based analysis and research;
  • Compiling statistics, as well as design and tabulation of charts, tables, and graphs;
  • Maintaining databases of meetings based on requests and actual conduct of meetings and assisting with the collection and analysis of data;
  • Contributing to the drafting/preparation of notes, talking points, and other papers and briefing materials;
  • Updating/redesigning websites and links;
  • Performing other tasks as necessary.
Experience Requirements

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: Three (3) months.

Work Modality: New York

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
