Consultant Medical

Overview

The Consultant Medical will provide necessary medical services to migrants within the framework of operations conducted by the mission, including medical certificates for travel and medical escorts. The role also involves direct assistance, medical follow-up, and referrals to partner health facilities.

Tasks Summary

• Elaborate Fit to Travel certificates for migrants admitted into the AVRR program.
• Provide medical consultation, evaluation, and care for migrants seeking assistance, and refer them to appropriate specialized health structures.
• Ensure medical follow-up of cases and maintain regular liaison with hospitals, pharmacies, referring physicians, and other providers.
• Update the MIMOSA database regarding medical cases.
• Coordinate the follow-up of cases with health issues admitted into the voluntary return program.
• Organize, coordinate, and ensure accompaniment for cases requiring medical escort during travel.
• Provide emergency medical assistance during landings if necessary.
• Guarantee the confidentiality of medical data in accordance with the organization's data protection standards.

Experience Requirements

• Five (5) years of cumulative professional experience.
• Ideally three (3) years in the humanitarian sector and/or with vulnerable populations and/or displaced persons.
• Good knowledge of the health environment in Mauritania and experience working in the country's health structures.
• Good knowledge of operational medical procedures related to migrant return operations is an asset.
• Knowledge of the Mauritanian migration context is an asset.

Qualification Requirements

• University degree in medicine.
• Permit to practice medicine in Mauritania as a general practitioner.

Other Details

Languages Required: • Perfect command of French, oral and written (working language) is necessary.

Languages Preferred: • Good knowledge of national languages (Hassanya, Pular, Soninké, Wolof). • Knowledge of English is an asset.

Contract Duration: 3 months (renewable)
