Overview

The role involves updating the text of a leaflet on "Rabies in European bats" and ensuring its translations are corrected accordingly. The amended English text must be submitted to the EUROBATS Secretariat.

Tasks Summary

• Carry out an academic review of the manuscript “Rabies in European bats. Information for professionals, volunteers and stakeholders” (2024) and update it in line with newly published scientific literature.
• Liaise with the translators of the French, German, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, Ukrainian and other available language versions to ensure that all translations are updated following the 2026 revision.
• Report to the Programme Officer at the EUROBATS Secretariat whenever the work is complete, but not later than 15.04.2026.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in studies on bats and public health issues are required.
• Experience in writing and editing academic manuscripts is required.
• Expertise in projects related to the problem of bats and rabies is required.
• Experience in preparing layouts of scientific publications is required.
• Previous educational publications on bats and public health issue.

Qualification Requirements

• An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in biology or medicine is required.
• A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Languages Preferred: • knowledge of other UN languages is desirable
