Overview

The Research Assistant will perform research, extract and compile information on illicit synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances, and assist with data analysis and content management for a web-portal.

Tasks Summary
  • Research, extract and compile basic information and technical data on illicit synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances and related topics and issues.
  • Sort, consolidate, extract and process data and scientific information on illicit synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances and enter into relevant databases and web-portals.
  • Assist in the evaluation and examination of data sets containing chemical information for accuracy, clarity and validity.
  • Assist in monitoring developments/issues on subjects or areas assigned by collecting, selecting, analysing and compiling materials from multiple sources.
  • Assist in the user administration and content management of the Internet-based Early Warning Advisory web-portal.
  • Prepare a variety of reports, presentations, tables, lists, graphs, diagrams and social media content.
  • Perform other related administrative duties, as required.
  • Provide guidance/training to new/junior staff.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports.
  • Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
  • Perform other related work as required.
Experience Requirements

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in collecting, analysing and researching data across health, drug control, chemicals, crime prevention, or related field is required. The minimum number of years of relevant experience is reduced to three (3) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Work experience with content management systems for Internet portals, relational databases and MS Excel software is desirable. Work experience in areas related to drug control, pharmacology, toxicology or chemistry is desirable. Experience in data quality assurance is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
