Overview

The role is responsible for media management, external communication, evidence-based advocacy, and campaign development within Oxfam's South Sudan program.

Tasks Summary
  • Develop and disseminate press releases, media briefs, and communication materials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets.
  • Coordinate media interviews.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage.
  • Support crisis communication and rapid media responses.
  • Manage and update social media platforms.
  • Produce multimedia content.
  • Track and analyze social media engagement.
  • Ensure consistency of branding, tone, and messaging.
  • Translate field evidence into advocacy products.
  • Collaborate with teams to generate communication materials.
  • Contribute to advocacy campaign development.
  • Support national and global Oxfam campaigns.
  • Document case studies for advocacy.
  • Support development and implementation of communications and media strategies.
  • Support capacity strengthening of local partners.
  • Support development and implementation of influencing, advocacy, and communications strategies.
  • Monitor, analyze, and synthesize humanitarian and social developments.
  • Contribute to policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy messaging.
  • Support rapid assessment of advocacy and communication risks and opportunities during emergencies.
  • Ensure timely sharing of information for advocacy.
  • Support planning and delivery of advocacy, media, and public engagement activities.
  • Conduct field visits to document success stories, photos, and videos.
  • Engage with communities ethically and respectfully.
  • Produce human-interest stories, photo essays, and case studies.
  • Maintain a digital archive of photos, videos, and stories.
  • Support programme teams with documentation for reports and proposals.
  • Contribute communication inputs to donor reports and internal knowledge materials.
  • Prepare periodic communication updates for senior management and Oxfam teams.
  • Work closely with Program Quality to ensure communications learning informs programme improvement.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in communications, media, or advocacy within humanitarian or development context.
  • Experience working with humanitarian NGOs or international organizations.
  • Experience in campaign communication and advocacy.
  • Experience managing social media platforms professionally.
  • Experience in field documentation, storytelling, photography, or videography, and editing skills.
  • Experience of using digital camera and professional media tools.
  • Proven previous experience in research, monitoring and evaluation.
Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, International Development, or related field.

Languages Required:

Languages Preferred: • Strong writing skills in English; knowledge of Arabic and local languages is an advantage.
