Overview
The role aims to support the country programme in promoting a 'Safe Organization' and zero tolerance to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) of children and adult beneficiaries through awareness raising and beneficiary sensitization.
Tasks Summary
- Identify and address training needs of staff and stakeholders in humanitarian and development response.
- Coordinate safeguarding capacity building and mobilize project staff, partners, volunteers and other stakeholders for training.
- Train and support Safeguarding Focal Points, thematic leads and supporting functions.
- Develop and prepare materials for safeguarding and Safe Programming related trainings.
- Organize and facilitate safeguarding induction for newly recruited staff, volunteers, beneficiaries, stakeholders and partners.
- Facilitate translation of safeguarding IEC materials to local dialects and lead in procurement and dissemination.
- Develop safeguarding messages for various groups of stakeholders and facilitate publication.
- Conduct safeguarding risk assessment for all sectors, projects, programmes and activities involving children.
- Compile partners’ activity documents, analyze partners risk assessment result and support on identified gap.
- Support the development and/or updating of safeguarding proposal risk assessment, design mitigation plan and develop safeguarding financial activity plan.
- Compile and develop monthly safeguarding training data/activity report.
- Support sectors on reviewing of proposals through a child-safety lens and coordinate with the MEAL team during evaluation processes.
- Lead in all aspects of safeguarding investigations of reported child safeguarding, PSEA and unsafe programming incidents/concerns and manage the online reporting system.
- Support the organization of learning forum on safeguarding best practices.
- Support the Safeguarding manager to provide technical guidance on safeguarding to partners, volunteers, SCI representatives and other key stakeholders.
- Support the Safeguarding Manager to conduct supervision and monitoring visits to project and construction sites and other implementation sites.
- Maintain clear records of number of staff, partners, volunteers, contractors, vendors, consultants and other parties trained in safeguarding.
- Support the capturing and sharing of lessons learnt on safeguarding, PSEA and safe programming.
- Carry out any other duties as reasonably required.
Experience Requirements
- Proven experience in safeguarding, child protection, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), or Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), particularly within humanitarian or insecure settings.
- Demonstrated experience in leading or participating in safeguarding investigations in development and/or humanitarian contexts.
Qualification Requirements
• A degree in Law, Humanities, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or any other related field.
