Overview

The Field Security Assistant provides specialized security support to ensure the safety and security of staff and premises. The role involves coordination, information gathering, and advice on security matters.

Tasks Summary
  • Assists in collecting, updating, and communicating security situation information.
  • Liaises with host government security organizations and NGOs.
  • Helps assess the security situation and gather/verify security information.
  • Communicates security information to UN agencies and provides security advice.
  • Maintains contacts with UN agencies' Security Focal Points.
  • Assists in maintaining the Security Plan and updating staff lists.
  • Supports actions during the implementation of the Security Plan.
  • Assists with monitoring security measures implementation.
  • Assists in reporting security incidents and preparing security reports.
  • Provides support in organizing and conducting security awareness training.
  • Provides support in conducting security evaluations and advising on Residential Security Measures.
  • Establishes and maintains warden system.
  • Maintains liaison with commercial companies used for UN security.
  • Provides general administrative assistance, including maintaining correspondence files and databases.
Experience Requirements

A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in responsible professional experience with a local, national or private police, security or fire brigade organization is required. With relevant first level university degree or higher, a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with a local, national or private police, security or fire brigade organization. Experience in the use of Microsoft applications i.e. Word, Excel Access and Powerpoint is required. Prior experience in delivering on the functions of an Assistant Security Officer or equivalent position within any UNSMS organization is desirable. Completion of the UNDSS FSA / LSA Course is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Training in military or police procedures and practices is required.
