Overview

Support UNHCR Burkina Faso's engagement and cooperation with development agencies to advance durable solutions for forcibly displaced populations and individuals at risk of statelessness.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the operation in planning for resilience and inclusion.
  • Facilitate the development of comprehensive multi-year protection and solutions plans/strategies.
  • Support the operation in identifying and capitalizing development and resilience opportunities.
  • Provide technical support for relationship building with development co-operation agencies.
  • Develop and foster partnerships and networks with development cooperation actors.
  • Contribute to the cooperation with development partners to incorporate concerns of refugees, returnees and others of concern to UNHCR.
  • Support the identification, commissioning and/or contribution to studies and analytical activities.
  • Help ensure that development actors are provided relevant data.
  • Support the engagement with governments, development partners, and with the private sector and civil society.
  • Support the facilitation, coordination and collaboration and the sharing of knowledge and experience sharing between UNHCR and development actors.
  • Support training activities aimed at the capacity building of UNHCR and partner agency staff.
Experience Requirements

Minimum of six years of direct work experience in a large international development institution in a relevant position. Preferably with knowledge of, or experience in, local or area based economic development, direct engagement in a technical sector such as education, WASH, social protection, health, energy. Practical experience working with and an understanding of the different aspects of economic growth, governance, fragility and conflict. Experience in working in refugee and IDPs situations with a high level of skills in management of programmes in emergency settings. Demonstrated skills in working with authorities in a politically sensitive context; demonstrated tolerance to frequently changing situations; and maintain excellent relations with UN agencies, NGOs and governmental institutions. Knowledge of UNHCR operations and prior roles working with or managing the collaboration with development actors in an emergency context would be an advantage.

  • Development Studies;
  • Socio-economic Development;
  • International Relations;
  • Political Science;
  • Law or other relevant field.
