The Humanitarian Affairs Officer will monitor, analyze, and report on humanitarian developments and emergency situations, and partner with agencies to plan and evaluate humanitarian programs.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development, or other related area is required. Experience in humanitarian coordination in the field in emergency situations in the last five (5) years is required. Experience coordinating Humanitarian Program Cycle processes is required. Experience coordinating inter-agency Emergency Response Preparedness, contingency plans and/or anticipatory action frameworks is desirable. Experience working in Latin America and the Caribbean region is desirable.
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, social science, public administration, international studies, economics, engineering, earth sciences or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Languages Required: English and Spanish are required.
Languages Preferred: French is desirable.
