Overview

Interns will support country and sub-regional programmes, project monitoring, reporting, evaluation, research, and communication activities within UN-Habitat.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in planning, implementing, monitoring, reporting, and evaluating regional and country-level projects and programmes.
  • Support inter-agency collaboration and collaboration between country teams.
  • Assist in the administration, budgeting, and management aspects of projects.
  • Support tracking of and responding to funding calls and resource mobilization.
  • Support information and knowledge management.
  • Assist in the preparation of concept papers, background documents, project documents, and publications.
  • Assist with communication, drafting web stories, and managing website content.
  • Assist in the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of meetings and workshops.
  • Undertake other assignments as required for the development and implementation of the country office work programme.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), OR
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), OR
  • Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in oral and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: In-person in Vientiane, Phnom Penh, Colombo Remote for Kabul

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID and a full-time assignment. Interns will also be personally responsible for obtaining necessary visas, insurance and arranging their own travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
