Overview
The Education Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programmes/projects. The role supports the development and formulation of the Education Programme within the Country Programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and analyze regional and national political, health, social and economic development trends.
- Collect, analyze, verify, and synthesize information to facilitate programme development, design and preparation.
- Support preparation of technical reports and provide inputs for programme preparation and documentation.
- Contribute to the development/establishment of sectoral programme goals, objectives, strategies, and results-based planning.
- Collaborate with the chief education officer in articulating work around violence in schools.
- Work closely and collaboratively with internal colleagues and partners to collect, analyze and share information on implementation issues.
- Suggest solutions on routine programme implementation and submit reports.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, programme reviews and annual sectoral reviews.
- Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources.
- Prepare draft inputs for programme/donor reporting.
- Undertake field visits and surveys and share information with stakeholders.
- Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, UN system partners and other country office partners/donors.
- Provides technical support to implementing partners in humanitarian crises: violence in schools, migration, climate crisis.
- Works closely with the Chief Education officer in driving the agenda for collaboration with the private sector and IFIs.
- Build and sustain effective close working partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders.
- Draft communication and information materials for CO programme advocacy.
- Participate in appropriate inter-agency (UNCT) meetings and events on programming.
- Research information on potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials and briefs.
- Provide support in identifying, capturing, synthesizing, and sharing lessons learned.
- Scouting, design and implement new collaborations methods and mechanism from several actors in the private sector and with the IFIs.
- Apply innovative approaches and promote good practices.
- Research, benchmark and report on best and cutting edge practices.
- Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives.
Required Experience
- A minimum of one year of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required.
- Experience in coordination with several actors from public, civil society and private sector is considered an asset.
- Experience in preventing and response plans of violence in schools is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
Qualifications
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field.
