Overview
The National Economist will integrate climate adaptation into agriculture under the Delta Plan 2100 by coordinating data analysis, scenario assessments, and policy reviews. The role supports the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agri-food systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Review literatures and analyze the impact of climate hazards on Bangladesh’s agriculture and align findings with the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100.
- Provide technical support to the project team to establish a shared understanding of the project's objectives, scope, and deliverables.
- Contribute to the analytical development of an evidence-based action plan for the Department of Agricultural Extension.
- Support to prepare future agricultural projections by analyzing historical data, conduct scenario analysis, developing forecasting models and promoting adoption of BDP2100 -related projects.
- Desk review and analyze agriculture and climate related policies, regulatory, and incentive frameworks and proposing strategies for their strengthening.
- Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for action plan and prepare monitoring framework aligned with the BDP 2100.
- Develop data collection and analysis tools for monitoring KPIs and Action Plan.
- Analyze key takeaways from validation workshops and integrate them into the on-monitoring framework and action plan.
- Perform other relevant duties as required and assigned.
Required Experience
• 10 years’ experience in policy analysis related to food security and agriculture.
Qualifications
• Advanced University degree or equivalent in Development Economics, Agricultural Economics or closely related field
