The individual contractor will provide secretarial and substantive support to meetings and prepare reports and recommendations related to freedom of transit.
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in international trade law, trade facilitation, transport policy development, or regional economic integration of which at least five years at the multilateral/international level working with UN agencies, regional economic communities, or international financial institutions is required. Experience in trade-transit-transport policy development, including work on customs modernization, border management, or regional transport corridor development, stakeholder coordination involving government officials, private sector entities, and international organizations in trade facilitation or transport sector development is desirable. Experience on international legal instruments related to freedom of transit, international trade law, including WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement, transit rights under GATT Article V, and regional trade agreements is desirable.
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, law, international trade or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
