Overview

The Investment Specialist will lead in the identification, screening, due diligence, structuring, obtaining of approvals, negotiation, implementation, and closing of direct debt financing and equity investments and technical assistance programs in food and agribusiness companies.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead in identifying, developing, and processing transactions for ADB private sector direct agribusiness investment, focusing on climate adaptation, nature-based solutions, and blended concessional finance.
  • Nurture relationships with food and agribusiness companies, financiers, and advisors.
  • Undertake comprehensive financial assessment, including financial modeling, credit rating, and valuation.
  • Conduct due diligence on market, commercial, technical, environmental, social, corporate governance, and integrity issues.
  • Structure and negotiate financial assistance, ensuring risk management.
  • Design relevant technical assistance programs.
  • Present transaction rationale and recommendations to ADB's Management and Board.
  • Ensure prompt financial closing of transactions.
  • Contribute to policy and strategy development for ADB's developmental goals in the agribusiness sector.
  • Participate in country teams and missions for planning and programming.
  • Coordinate project-related work and strategy policy matters with other departments.
  • Coordinate the work of project team members, including international staff, national staff, and consultants.
  • Oversee the performance of reporting staff and consultants.
Required Experience

At least 6 years of relevant professional experience in corporate and project lending, investment banking, or private equity leading direct cross-border debt or equity transactions, with exposure to the agribusiness and nature capital sector in Asia. International experience working in development in several countries.

Qualifications

A University degree in business administration or finance or relevant fields; preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent.

Contract Duration
Initially for a period of up to 3 years, or up to the Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes earlier. Option to renew for up to an additional 3 years.
