Overview

The Associate Data Protection and Privacy Officer supports the Court’s data protection and privacy initiatives, ensuring personal data and sensitive information are handled in compliance with applicable international standards and United Nations regulations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Supports the implementation and review of data protection and privacy policies.
  • Contributes to the development and application of procedures for secure data handling.
  • Maintains data inventories, impact assessment records, and breach documentation.
  • Supports analysis of data processing activities and identification of risks.
  • Conducts data mapping exercises.
  • Manages responses to data breaches.
  • Conducts compliance reviews of data protection practices.
  • Performs data protection impact assessments.
  • Maintains records of processing activities.
  • Contributes to reports on compliance status.
  • Develops and delivers training materials on data protection.
  • Promotes a culture of responsible data handling.
  • Provides guidance on privacy-by-design principles.
  • Supports integration of data protection measures into systems.
  • Contributes to data protection projects.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders.
  • Deputizes for the Information Systems Officer (Cyber Security) when required.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in data protection and privacy, including its development and implementation, is required.
  • Experience conducting data risk assessments, maintaining data inventories, and ensuring compliance with data protection standards is required.
Qualifications
  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate degree, or equivalent) in law, business, public administration, computer science, information management, social sciences, or related fields is required.
  • A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

• Advanced language competence (UN Level III) in either English or French and Intermediate language competence (UN Level II) of the other language is required.
