Overview
This internship supports the work of the Peacebuilding Impact Hub and Peacebuilding Commission Support Branch within the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs. The role involves assisting with program development, monitoring peacebuilding efforts, supporting policy development, and preparing written outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects for the Peacebuilding Impact Hub;
- Monitors actions taken by intergovernmental groups, UN organizations, government and non-governmental organizations related to peacebuilding efforts.
- Supports policy development; the assessments of issues and trends, and the preparation of evaluations or research activities and studies.
- Supports preparation of various written outputs, e.g. background papers, analysis, substantial sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications.
- Supports the drafting and publication of the Peacebuilding Impact Hub’s Global Overview Report, and production of the Peacebuilding Impact Hub’s Knowledge products.
- Supports outreach activities; designs and conducts training workshops, seminars, etc., makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.
- Supports team members efforts to collect and analyze data and provides insight to identify trends or patterns for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
- Researches, compiles and summarizes background materials for use in preparation of meetings, reports, summaries, etc.;
- Assists in the coordination of service-wide activities (meetings, training, etc.), special projects and events;
- Supports the management and development of internal databases; updates website; generates a variety of standard and non-standard statistical and other reports from various databases;
- Assists in the preparation of presentation materials using appropriate technology/software;
- Performs a variety of administrative duties, as requested.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
Qualifications
- be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
