Overview
The role aims to strengthen disaster risk reduction communication and information management functions through daily operational support and capacity building.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and document information on existing disaster situations and incidents.
- Support daily communication outputs, including situational updates, social media management, organization of meetings and workshops, and preparation of knowledge products and stories.
- Facilitate skill transfer to personnel to strengthen institutional capacity in communication, information management, event support, media coordination, and documentation.
- Support the preparation and dissemination of monthly communication and information management reports.
- Manage social media platforms through regular, accurate, and timely updates.
- Develop knowledge products, stories, and documentation materials.
- Coordinate with media houses to ensure dissemination of official messages and disaster related information.
- Support the organization of meetings and workshops, including documentation, report preparation, and communication outputs.
- Collaborate with teams to guide designated media houses on effective dissemination of disaster related content.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in communication, Journalism, Knowledge management, information management, or disaster related programmes.
- Experience working with government, INGOs, or donor funded projects; experience with UN agencies is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, cultural, and communication skills, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Proven experience in managing government social medica platform.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in mass communication, communication studies, Journalism, Public Policy or related field.
