Overview

The internship aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration-related areas. The intern will support programme activities within the Peace, Crisis Response, and Operations Unit.


Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze migration-related laws, policies, and regulatory frameworks in Kyrgyzstan.
  • Assist with the review and interpretation of national legislation, administrative procedures, and international agreements.
  • Support the collection, organization, and tracking of information on migration policies and border management procedures.
  • Attend meetings related to migration policy and provide summaries.
  • Assist in preparing analytical briefs and reports on migration laws and procedures.
  • Gather information on migration procedures and regulatory practices from government counterparts and partners.
  • Contribute to the development and updating of guidance notes and policy summaries.
  • Assist in identifying gaps and challenges in migration governance.
  • Assist with the preparation of situational and statistical reports.
  • Undertake other assigned tasks.
Required Experience
  • Less than two years of relevant working experience.
  • Previous academic or professional experience in migration-related issues, legal frameworks, or policy analysis is desirable.
  • Experience in project management, research, or supporting programme implementation is an advantage.
  • Experience working with international organizations, governmental institutions, or NGOs is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with migration laws, administrative procedures, or regulatory systems is considered an asset.
Qualifications
  • Current university student in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree or recent graduate (within one year), or enrolled in a Master’s degree in Law, International Relations, Migration Studies, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Coursework or academic focus in migration law, public policy, or international legal frameworks is an asset.

Fluency in English language is required.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of Kyrgyz and Russian languages is desired.

Remuneration
Interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, depending on experience and location. Interns receiving financial remuneration or credits from their university or sponsoring body are not eligible for the stipend. IOM covers interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP).
