Overview
To monitor and provide technical support for public awareness programs for WASH, climate change, and hygiene in schools, and to improve the capacity of staff in water companies to manage revolving fund schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and provide technical support for public awareness programs for WASH, climate change, and hygiene in schools.
- Collect required data and documentation for project documentation.
- Improve the capacity of revolving fund unit staff in water companies to manage and sustain revolving fund schemes.
- Monitor the implementation of the health green model, including improvement of WASH facilities, solar power installation, and water/electricity saving devices.
- Monitor the improvement of WASH facilities in schools.
- Lead and coordinate among governorate-level stakeholders to develop action plans.
- Follow up, monitor, and provide technical support for the assessment, rehabilitation, and operational sustainability of WASH facilities in schools, youth centers, and Primary Health Units (PHUs).
- Ensure systematic field follow-up of infrastructure rehabilitation and solarization activities.
- Conduct regular coordination meetings with staff and local NGOs.
- Provide training to teachers on awareness activities and data use.
- Use new technology and social media to engage students and disseminate WASH messages.
- Coordinate with local counterparts, including governorate water companies, health directorate, and education directorate.
- Coordinate on school level with school management, teachers, and children.
- Follow up and monitor the development of targeted Primary Health Care Unit solar systems.
- Coordinate to maintain proper financial documents.
- Provide technical support for participatory rapid assessment studies and capacity building workshops for revolving fund units.
- Establish technical guidance on performance and results monitoring indicators and reporting for revolving funds.
- Monitor the progress of project activities in targeted PHUs and schools.
- Assist in exploring mechanisms for reaching surrounding communities with WASH, nutrition, and hygiene activities.
- Follow-up and monitor the implementation of the project component related to community service.
- Provide technical expertise training/coaching to MoETE stakeholders.
- Facilitate and ensure cash assistance is spent as per budget agreements and liquidations are completed.
- Keep track of the progress of installing solar systems in PHUs.
- Attend coordination and governorate level committees’ meetings.
- Attend meetings at UNICEF Cairo, as needed.
- Collect, maintain, and update project data.
- Prepare progress reports specifying achievements.
Required Experience
- Not Less than 7 years’ experience in field coordination in rural/urban areas.
- Technical competence.
- Specific previous experience on WASH.
- Knowledge in the field of potable water supply and sanitation systems and technologies in schools and health facilities in urban and rural Egypt.
- Proven experience working at the governorate level with sectoral directorates (Health, Education, Water, etc.) in at least one of the targeted governorates.
- Climate change knowledge and environmental experience.
- Previous experience showing good training skills and good report writing skills.
