Overview
Oversees and coordinates IOM Port of Entry operations at assigned U.S. international airport(s), ensuring the safe, timely, and dignified reception, transit, and onward movement of refugees and migrants. The role supervises field support staff and manages day-to-day airport assistance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee staff undertaking field support activities at assigned airport(s).
- Support staff development processes including hiring, training, assigning duties, and providing performance feedback.
- Oversee efficient and effective management of airport assistance for arriving and departing individuals.
- Serve as the primary focal point with IOM Washington DC Operations regarding escorts, flight anomalies, statistics, and strategic planning.
- Provide assistance to IOM Washington DC Operations and the IOM Washington DC Medical Department.
- Inform IOM Washington DC Operations of information received through counterparts affecting beneficiary arrivals.
- Ensure the POE provides after-hours assistance to IOM Washington DC Operations, the DC Medical Department, and partner resettlement agencies.
- Manage assets and inventories, process financial paperwork, supervise quality control of vendors, and manage transit center vehicles.
- Ensure interpretation services are coordinated for individuals at the airport(s), consolidation points, and third-party facilities.
- Supervise the coordination of transportation from consolidation points and third-party facilities.
- Monitor short- and long-term arrival schedules to ensure adequate staffing and resources.
- Supervise the handling of at-risk and sensitive cases in accordance with IOM’s policies and procedures.
- Supervise quality assurance procedures and ensure incident reports are submitted and responded to efficiently.
- Prepare statistics and report regularly to the supervisor on relevant activities.
- Ensure POE-relevant data are managed through the relevant proprietary tools and systems.
- Participate in meetings and conferences and ensure lines of communication are maintained with local POE federal authorities and partners.
- Uphold RMM Protection Mainstreaming Minimum Standards while carrying out all duties and responsibilities.
Required Experience
- Prior IOM Movement Operations, airport, transportation-related and/or management experience.
- Work experience in programs including movement operations component, particularly in resettlement programs.
- Experience with supervising multiple teams.
- Demonstrated proficiency in IOM proprietary tools and systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge with handling sensitive information and personal data.
- Experience with handling the issues in other countries in the region.
- Experience with handling complex cases and workflow.
- Experience with filling management level roles.
- Knowledge of IOM's Movement Operations program implementation and administrative, financial and business rules and practices.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Science, International Relations, Regional Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or
- University degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
