Overview
The Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Consultant will provide expert advisory and policy support to the Peacebuilding and Peace Support Office (PBPSO) and act as a strategic technical bridge between UNFPA and DPPA to advance the YPS agenda.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide YPS expert advice to PBPSO and contribute to briefing notes, talking points, and background papers.
- Support monitoring and contribution to Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) meetings and Security Council briefings.
- Provide YPS expert advice to the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) portfolio.
- Represent PBPSO in youth-related events and meetings.
- Support the Joint UN Secretariat on YPS in technical operations and strategic agenda-setting.
- Lead the coordination of YPS Focal Point networks.
- Support the systematization of institutional knowledge in the YPS Secretariat SharePoint.
- Manage the planning and execution of flagship 2026 events.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience at the national and international level.
- Previous experience in the UN is desirable.
- Knowledge of the Youth, Peace and Security agenda, and experience working on youth-inclusive peacebuilding is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in research, data consolidation, or report writing is considered an asset.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in social sciences, or related field (e.g.: peace studies, international development, public health, law, sociology, youth or gender studies, population and development, conflict resolution, etc.).
- Experience may be considered in lieu of the Master’s degree.
