Overview
The Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance, repair, and functionality of IRC facilities, equipment, and assets, implementing preventive maintenance plans, conducting inspections, and addressing technical issues to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Prepare and submit proactive maintenance plans.
- Conduct routine inspections and perform necessary repairs.
- Carry out installation, servicing, and repair of HVAC systems.
- Maintain electrical systems, plumbing, furniture, and structural fittings.
- Ensure maintenance of power systems including generators, solar systems, and grid connections.
- Manage generator fueling and maintain accurate fuel consumption records.
- Track service schedules for generators and solar inverter systems.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inventory, and expenses.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing.
- Coordinate diesel distribution to IRC facilities.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on fuel usage and maintenance activities.
- Support budgeting for maintenance operations.
- Supervise third-party contractors and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and mitigate identified risks.
- Stay informed of relevant local laws and regulations.
- Identify and report procurement deviations.
- Ensure adherence to IRC Way policies.
- Support segregation of duties within supply chain functions.
- Review supply chain reports and contribute to improvement plans.
- Report potential policy violations.
- Support implementation of compliance and performance improvement initiatives.

Required Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in humanitarian supply chain or maintenance roles.
- Strong integrity and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in challenging environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong technical and engineering knowledge.
Qualifications
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related technical field.
