Overview
Leads country-level planning, execution, and monitoring of all engagements to drive strategic delivery and sustainable impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops proposals and prepares project agreements.
- Plans and proposes required resources.
- Establishes strategies and implementation plans.
- Develops objectives, performance measurements, standards, and results expected.
- Oversees, monitors, and directs measures for safety and security.
- Manages overall HSSE performance and implementation of HSSE requirements.
- Acts as the UNOPS Security Focal Point (SFP) within the country of operation.
- Assesses needs of national government and partners to identify areas for leveraging UNOPS services.
- Builds and strengthens strategic partnerships.
- Keeps MCO Director informed on opportunities, challenges, and risks.
- Establishes and maintains arrangements for business process excellence and quality standards.
- Monitors and oversees project/programme implementation.
- Takes responsibility for financial decisions and exercises financial control.
- Participates in inter-agency and external meetings.
- Participates in UN country team meetings or interagency management groups.
- Keeps the UN Resident Coordinator informed of UNOPS activities.
- Drives high-quality, well-informed decisions.
- Ensures corporate reporting, information flow, and appropriate escalation of emerging risks.
- Champions risk management.
- Contributes to the development and introduction of innovation.
- Contributes to the dissemination and sharing of best practices and lessons learned.
- Plans, implements, and organizes strategic capacity building.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 9 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree (or equivalent) with 7 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience is work in strategic and managerial leadership in public affairs, management, business development planning and operations in a large corporate or international organization, or related area.
- Desired experience of working in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country.
- Desired experience in development or humanitarian contexts.
