Overview

The Child Protection Coordinator will manage the implementation of a Child Protection in Emergencies programme, including psychosocial support, youth programmes, and community outreach. The role ensures all work aligns with organisational policies and may require adjustments during major humanitarian emergencies.


Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and oversee the implementation of the Child Protection in Emergencies programme.
  • Ensure timely delivery of a quality programme through effective reporting mechanisms.
  • Monitor progress against projects’ log frames and implementation plans.
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems are in place.
  • Identify areas of implementation through outreach and coordination.
  • Contribute to donor and internal reports.
  • Support the development and adaptation of Child Protection toolkits and curriculums.
  • Lead monitoring and evaluation processes of Child Protection activities.
  • Feed into the design of activities based on lessons learned and community feedback.
  • Ensure programme interventions are informed by and integrated with other core sectors.
  • Regularly visit programme sites to ensure community support and achievement of objectives.
  • Identify staffing needs and participate in recruitment processes.
  • Take accountability for own and team’s performance and development.
  • Provide Child Protection staff with capacity building trainings.
  • Ensure team follows weekly work plans and develops weekly reports.
  • Conduct trainings for local NGOs and authorities on Child Protection and child rights.
  • Ensure child protection staff comply with code of conduct, Child Safeguarding, and other policies.
  • Facilitate induction and training sessions for partners.
  • Ensure data is accurately collected by partners and reported.
  • Support partner programme teams in implementing operational work plans and setting targets.
  • Clearly communicate targets, objectives, and activity plans to partners.
  • Control and support implementation of compliance requirements.
  • Oversee and work with partner staff to review monthly progress reports.
  • Continuously identify and document child protection issues.
  • Participate in follow-up meetings with SCI Members and donors.
  • Represent SCI in coordination meetings and forums.
  • Advocate for children’s right of protection and wellbeing.
  • Promote children’s participation in designing intervention plans.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with NGOs, local governance structures, and UN agencies.
  • Ensure SCI activities are implemented in accordance with SCI policies, strategy, and national guidelines.
  • Comply with Save the Children’s policies and practices.
Required Experience
  • Experience in projects and team management.
  • 3-5 years’ of experience in child protection.
  • Prior proven track record in successful coaching is an asset.
  • Experience in working with at-risk children and families.
  • Ideally experience in case management.
  • Understanding of social welfare systems and child protection mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data and to develop data bases and data collection tools.
  • Experience in community mobilization and in conducting outreach activities.
  • Experience working at community level with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in a similar position with a local or international NGO.
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in, Social Science, Education, or other related fields.

• French language skills is an asset.
