Overview

The Project Coordinator will provide technical leadership and coordination for the SCOPE project implementation to ensure timely delivery with quality results. The role involves managing project work plans, monitoring implementation, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and facilitate the development of detailed project annual work plans.
  • Prepare project procurement, travel, and recruitment plans.
  • Formulate/facilitate the signing of contracts with implementing partners.
  • Review and support implementing partners in developing specifications for goods and services.
  • Coordinate and supervise the implementation of project activities contracted to IPs.
  • Assure project implementation follows the log-frame and M&E framework.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly, half-yearly, and annual reports.
  • Monitor the implementation of planned project activities and provide updates.
  • Monitor IPs' contract performance and give feedback.
  • Act as Secretary to the FAO component of the SCOPE project Taskforce.
  • Lead and participate in project coordination meetings.
  • Liaise and coordinate with other pandemic fund projects.
  • Collaborate and build synergies with other SCOPE IEs and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership to project implementation.
  • Manage human, material, and financial resources allocated to the project.
  • Identify and act on constraints and issues requiring resolution.
  • Ensure project activities are implemented as per FAO and Pandemic Fund guidelines.
  • Identify and escalate critical issues related to project implementation.
  • Assist in resource mobilization and project formulation.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be required.
Required Experience
  • At least five years of professional experience in the management of managing complex, cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders, preferably within the One Health approach.
  • Extent and relevance of experience in the planning and management of projects related to animal health, wildlife, community development and One Health in the Agrifood systems.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully strategic planning and leading project implementation in livestock, agriculture, public health, wildlife, community engagements and/or the environment sectors.
  • Prior experience with the development of monitoring and evaluation plans.
  • Familiarity with FAO’s work, especially in the African region and UN agencies will be considered as an asset.
Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in Agriculture, Veterinary medicine, animal science, wildlife, One Health, Epidemiology, biomedical sciences or any other relevant disciplines.
  • Consultants with a bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.

Languages Preferred
• Intermediate knowledge (Level B) of French is considered an asset. • Demonstrated ability to write technical and communication documents in both English and French.
