Overview
This consultancy supports the completion of the Eastern Mediterranean Region's component of the WHO Report on the Global Tobacco Epidemic (GTCR XI), including data compilation, validation, and communication outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical input to country data collection, compilation, and updating for GTCR XI.
- Provide technical review of country sheets and gather supporting documentation.
- Access and update the relevant WHO system with validated country data.
- Conduct technical cross-checking and validation of information.
- Document validation outcomes and resolve discrepancies.
- Liaise with WHO HQ to incorporate new directions or guidance.
- Update components of the 2025 GTCR report for the 2027 release.
- Ensure all supporting documents are compiled and submitted for report completion.
- Facilitate the validation and sign-off process with national authorities.
- Provide technical advice on report finalization activities.
- Draft and finalize materials for the GTCR XI release, including factsheets, Q&A documents, and press releases.
- Update existing PowerPoint presentations profiling each country.
- Develop one consolidated regional PowerPoint presentation.
- Update the traffic light table to reflect new validated data.
Required Experience
- Up to 5 years’ experience working in tobacco control supporting the implementation of the WHO FCTC and monitoring of the tobacco epidemic through research related work in the field of tobacco control.
- International experience/exposure is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Essential: First university degree in Public Health and/or related field.
- Desirable: Master’s degree in public health and/or related field. Post graduate certificates/studies in data analysis and health promotion or any related field.
