Overview
The NCD Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring NCD-related policies, programs, and activities, working with various stakeholders to support the implementation of the Tonga NCD Strategy and Action Matrix.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and support the execution of NCD prevention and control programs.
- Assist in the formulation, implementation, and review of national NCD policies, strategies, and action plans.
- Provide technical guidance and training to health professionals and community workers on NCD prevention and management.
- Provide regular progress reports on NCD initiatives.
- Support public awareness on NCD risk factors and encourage healthy lifestyle choices.
- Promote multi-sectoral coordination among government ministries, NGOs, private sector, and international partners.
- Identify funding opportunities and develop project proposals for NCD initiatives.
- Serve as the Secretariat for the MOH NCD Steering Committee, supporting meeting organization and minute circulation.
Required Experience
- At least 4 years of experience in Public Health, Medicine, Health Policy, or a related field, with experience working at the national level.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and multi-sectoral coordination.
- Desirable: Experience in engineering design, procurement and quality assurance of infrastructure related projects at HCF level.
- Desirable: Experience in digital/web-based systems and survey tools.
- Desirable: A strong understanding of climate change and health risk pathways is a plus factor.
Qualifications
- Essential: University degree in Public Health, Medicine, Health Policy, or a related field.
- Desirable: Master’s degree relevant to the field of work is an asset.
