Overview

The Programme Associate will conduct needs assessments and evaluations of refugees and host communities, support the development of FAO’s block farming model, and track development financing.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct an analysis of the needs of the displaced population and their host communities.
  • Enhance self-reliance and economic empowerment of refugees and host communities.
  • Strengthen coordination with stakeholders to ensure alignment of FAO’s refugee response programme.
  • Conduct needs assessments and evaluations of refugees and host communities, with a particular focus on block farming and income generation.
  • Support in the continued development of FAO’s block farming model.
  • Support tracking of development financing.
  • Assist in the development of project proposals for funding opportunities.
  • Engage in advocacy, partnership, coordination and networking of bilateral donors and NGOs.
  • Engage with Japanese private companies to strengthen PPP cooperation.
Required Experience
  • 3 years of experience in agriculture, communication, community development, crisis and emergency response, development programmes, energy and environment among others.
  • Ability to conduct assessments, evaluations, and data analysis in humanitarian contexts.
  • Familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.
  • Skills in stakeholder engagement, partnership-building, and coordination with a wide range of actors.
  • Organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, take initiative, and work with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment.
  • Strong interest in international development, Peace, Humanitarian–Development (HDP) Nexus, refugee response, and the mandate of FAO.
  • Solid computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and internet.
Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Economics, International Development, Political Science, Social Science, or related fields is highly favoured.
