Overview
Support the implementation of the Tanzania School Feeding Project by assisting with school feeding governance, nutrition, community engagement, cash-based transfers, agriculture, food safety, and monitoring activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project activities to establish and enhance the functionality and capacity of School Feeding Committees.
- Support and follow up with schools in the implementation of nutrition sensitive school feeding activities.
- Support and document parental and community contributions to school feeding.
- Support in collecting and reviewing documentation for creating of vendors in WFP’s corporate system.
- Support follow-up and monitoring of school gardens.
- Support food safety and hygiene practices and activities in schools.
- Support visibility efforts to raise awareness of Community Feedback Mechanism.
- Collect timely and accurate data on school feeding, nutrition, and agriculture interventions.
- Conduct regular data verification and validation exercises at school level.
- Participate in field monitoring visits to assess progress against planned activities.
- Support routine data collection and submission using simple tools and templates.
- Support collection of routine information related to school participation, agriculture activities, and trainings.
- Document gender roles and responsibilities, barriers and capacities of women, men, schoolboys, and schoolgirls.
- Support coordination of School Feeding Project activities at district and community levels.
- Identify implementation issues, inform the project team, and support schools to undertake corrective actions.
- Participate in monthly district reflection meetings with relevant LGAs officials.
- Support preparation and submission of simple field reports, observations, and activity updates.
- Perform any other tasks as required by the supervisor and activity manager.
Required Experience
- Basic experience supporting data collection, record keeping, or reporting (academic, volunteer, or community-based experience acceptable).
- Experience in working with local government, schools and/or communities is an added advantage.
Qualifications
- Technical/vocational diploma in Agriculture, Nutrition, Food Science and Technology, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Community Development, Gender and Protection, Social Sciences or related fields.
- A bachelor’s degree in one or more of the following disciplines is highly recommended: Agriculture, Nutrition, Food Science and Technology, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Community Development, Gender and Protection, Social Sciences or related fields.
